The Frankel appliance has four different variations (I, II, II & IV) and is designed to correct minor malocclusions. The appliances unique design allows for arch development as a result of the absence of pressure from the cheek and lip muscles, due to the presence of the buccal shields and lip pads. This allows for the natural development arches to take place with the assistance of the tongue muscles.
